We are just 22 days away until the Pageland Red Rooster's inaugural game and the Tar Heel Summer Baseball League's 2008 opening day at Piedmont Park in Monroe, NC! The Red Roosters will open their season on Saturday, May 30th at 6 p.m. against the Monroe Channelcats. The home opener at the Roost (the unofficial name I pegged our home field at Central High School in Pageland) will be on Sunday, May 31st where we will play a doubleheader against the Charlotte Crowns.
Our family is really looking forward to getting down to Pageland or Monroe (I'm not really sure which city the league has placed our residnce yet), and getting things going. I am ready to have a great summer playing some great baseball.
Players will report on the weekend of May 24th to Pageland Central. The Red Roosters are scheduled to play 43 regular season games, 23 of which will be played at home. On top of the regular season, there will be a League Championship and the North Carolina State Tournament in which they will participate. The winner of the NCST qualifies for the National Baseball Congress World Series, held in Wichita, KS.
