Baseball
Our game against Monroe was cancelled tonight due to rain. We may have been able to get it ready to play, but after talking to Pageland Central High School coaches Mitch and Marty, we decided it would be best for the field to not play tonight. Instead of playing 9 tonight and 9 on Wednesday, we will play two 7-inning games at Monroe on Wednesday. The doubleheader will start at 5p.m. EST.
Food(Probably more important than baseball.)
Many of the guys decided to stay around for awhile. There was a good game of fungo golf that had broken out after the rain stopped. Although many hung around just to hangout and talk, the main reason was "chicken bog." We were told on Monday that a Pageland community member was going to make some chicken bog for us for after our game that was supossed to happen tonight. Even though we were rained out, he still made some for us.
I had never heard of chicken bog until Monday, but was really looking forward to it. With our love of food and cooking, Jessica and I want to try as many new southern foods and restaurants as possible while we are here. The chicken bog was excellent, especially the type with gizzards, which apparently are guaranteed to improve one's ability as a baseball player.(At least that's what the players were told.)
On top of the chicken bog, we have also been to Chic-Fil-a and Waffle House. Chic-Fil-a was average, but we really enjoyed the friendly people. We also were able to try Cheerwine for the first time. The Waffle House was after church on Sunday. It definitely satisfied my George Webb fix. George Webb is a great "grease" restaurant in Wisconsin. We are still working on getting to Bojangles and Zaxby's. I have also been wanting to by some fresh seafood to cook for dinner. I also hear that one of the guys has a plate of okra for me as well.
